Donncha Ó Treasaigh is the founding principal of Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh, an all-Irish post-primary college in Limerick City (600 pupils).  A graduate of Mary Immaculate College/University of Limerick (Honours Degree in Gaeilge & Geography), he completed the Higher Diploma in Education in NUI Maynooth.  In 2000, he completed a postgraduate degree in ICT from NUI Maynooth.

He has earned significant acclaim in the field of ICT and has been involved at National level in several programmes relating to teachers’ professional development.  He was also an editor for the NCTE on various publications. He delivered courses to both Primary and Post-Primary teachers through the Education Centre network between 1999 and 2006.
He has considerable experience in management and education leadership. He was Chairperson of the Limerick Principals & Deputy Principals Association during which time he transformed the working dynamic and professional development dimension to the Association.

He is Chairperson of NAPD Region 6 and is a Member of the NAPD National Executive.

He is Secretary of the ETBI sub-committee on ETB All-Irish Post Primary Colleges.

He has been a member of the Management Committee of Limerick Education Centre since 2003, and held various roles such as Chairperson and Treasurer. He is a passionate advocate of the Education Centre Network and the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of teachers.

Donncha works as a Mentor Principal to newly appointed School leaders and has been appointed, since November 2015, as a Mentor to the Centre for School Leadership.

He is a Member of the Hunt Museum Board of Directors.

Donncha is the Chairperson of NAPD ICT Committee and organised, in partnership with PDST Technology in Education, a very successful ICT Conference for School Leaders in November 2016, in the Dublin Convention Centre. 

He is on the Implementation Group for the Department of Education and Skills Digital Strategy Initiative.

Involvement with Apple

He is one of 7 Apple Professional Development Consultants in Ireland, and has presented Vision & Planningseminars for Principals, Deputy Principals and ICT coordinators in recent years.

He is an Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE – Class of 2015) and he also established the highly successful Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC) at Limerick Education Centre, Limerick –

Donncha was asked to assist with he launch of the Department of Education & Skills Digital Strategy Consultation Process (3rd December 2013). Click on this link for more information. He has also spoken to Parents groups about the topic of Digital Learning in Post-Primary & Best Practice.

Donncha also assists Apple Ireland with continuing School Support through its Education Strategic Planning initiative (ESP).

He is an Apple Teacher.
